Post-Closing Requirements
Wait...I thought we were done?
Most of the time, we are.
You signed your closing documents.
You got the keys.
You moved in.
You celebrated.
Congratulations!
But believe it or not, there is an entire phase of the mortgage process that happens after your loan closes. It's called Post-Closing, and there are literally tens of thousands of people across the United States whose full-time job is working in this department.
Fortunately, most borrowers never even know it exists.
So...why are you calling me?
Occasionally, someone reviewing your file after closing discovers something that needs to be corrected or updated.
Maybe a signature was accidentally missed.
Maybe a document needs to be re-signed because someone forgot to initial one page.
Maybe the bank needs an updated bank statement or insurance document that wasn't available before closing.
None of these things are unusual.
They're simply part of making sure your loan file is complete.
If I call you...I really need it.
If I reach out after your loan has already closed, I'm not asking because I'm bored.
I'm not asking because I enjoy paperwork.
I'm asking because the bank genuinely needs something for your file.
The good news?
It almost never affects your loan.
You're not going to lose your house.
You're not going to have to "re-close."
You're not going to start the mortgage process all over again.
The loan has already closed.
We simply need one last piece of the puzzle so the file can be completed properly.
Treat it as important...not scary.
My relationship with my clients doesn't end at the closing table. If I call after closing, please treat the request as important and respond as soon as you're able.
In almost every case, it's a quick fix that takes just a few minutes and allows the bank to finalize your loan file once and for all. Then...
